Celebrating 50 years! 1967-2017
R Watts and Sons Ltd celebrated 50 years of business in 2017.
Founded in 1967 by Richard Watts, pictured above, today the company is run by his two sons, Nicky and Steve Watts.
Our working practices have changed a lot in those 50+ years - just look at these photos of Nicky Watts.
The first image was taken in 1987 where as you can see there was very little Personal Protection Equipment (PPE) in place. The second photo is from 2014 with all the gear in place.
Richard’s wife Sue found this newsletter from 1989 detailing the felling of a large oak that the team completed for Wexham Park Hospital along with some incredible photos of the work. The lack of PPE is quite astonishing but Nicky looks like he was enjoying himself!
These days our health and safety procedures are much stricter and we ensure a safe working environment for both our customers and our team - a huge change to those early years of the business!
